February 2024 Release Notes

Zakeke, the leading cloud-based visual commerce platform that allows anyone to easily customize and configure products online, at their retail location, and everywhere in between, today announced a new product update to its platform, together with 170 fixes and improvements! Take a look at the brand new features added:

Design texture resolution

Blurry designs on 3D models, bye bye..

Say hello to custom design texture resolution. Yep, you read that right. For desktop and mobile devices. Why? Simply because when you create a 2D design and you display it on a 3D model, Zakeke automatically create a texture of the design with default values of 1024 pixels for desktop, 1024 pixels for Android mobile devices, and 512 pixels for iPhone devices to ensure good performance.

However, this default resolution may result in some designs appearing blurry. And we don’t want that.

So you can now specify custom values for the texture, when you edit the customizable area of your 3D model, whether you’re inside the Customizer or the 3D Configurator (Composer section).

Exit warning Message

Say hello to a very much expected improvement inside Messages and Alerts, the new exit warning message! This custom message will be displayed when customers are trying to close the customizer and can be tailored specifically to tell customers that they might lose their edits if they do.
You’re welcome guys!

Get a Quote – New additional fields

The Get a Quote tool automatically add a ‘Get a quote’ button to your customizer to let your customers send you requests for quotations instead of buying the product directly.
Now you can also include additional fields to add personalized details and pricing information into your quotes. But that’s not enough.

Inside the customer quotation form section you can now choose which information you would print on the quote PDF summary, that will be sent to the customer. Choose which fields you want to review in quote summary and include what you prefer. Someone said automation? Yesssir!

Zoom level

Oh we love zooming, like zooming on images, print areas..so we’ve added the possibility to decide the Zoom level for your product inside the Zakeke customizer. Inside the Interface Editor you can input the zoom level you love, 100, 80 or 56 (your lucky number?) and see the product zoomed in or out inside the iframe. Additionally you can also set the automatic zoom for the Print Area, giving an extra movement and focus to the customizable area of your product for your customers.

Save design for all products

Your customers can save a specific design they’ve made for single product only or for usage across all customizable products. Pretty cool ah?

You have now the option to allow the design to be applied across all customizable products. Zakeke will automatically adjust the design to fit different print areas as accurately as possible, so imperfections might apply. Perfection is our goal, always. And you know it.

New quick search bar

Searching for something is beautiful..but finding it, it’s ever more beautiful (use that as a mantra, go on).

So we added a quick search bar inside the top header of your dashboard, so that you can easily find menu sections, documentation links, products, orders and more.

Super easy to use and to find. Literally.

New PDF preview cameras for 3D Configuration

Cameras are used to make the 3D model to automatically rotate to a certain position. You can create those inside the Composer. So, when your customers select an attribute (part) of your product, a group of attributes, a step or a customizable area to add a text/image, the 3D model automatically rotates to show that part to the customer.
If you name a camera position “pdf_screenshot_camera”, that camera will be used as a preview screenshot inside the PDF preview whenever customers generate it for their configuration. Believe us, this is not a minor thing. Oh, well..you know it already.

New 3D model rotation limits

Oh everyone love to spin a 3D model..it’s super fun! But hey.. we’re not here to joke around, ok?

So, from now on, you can decide, inside the Scene Editor of the Configurator, for all your 3D models, the:

  • Zoom limit and its height
  • Horizontal rotation limit
  • Vertical rotation limit

Both limits have a minimum and a maximum rotation value. You can apply both to your 3D model for your customers to use in order to limit the movement of the product inside the scene and the product preview in your store. See it for yourself here.

No mip map

Think about fur. Like a teddy bear fur. Or a super-duper hat with a peacock feather. Ok? Got it?
Well think about a fedora hat 3D model inside an e-commerce product page, ready to be customized.
That fur might not be soo detailed, so specific, like seeing it on a microscope, right? It’s a normal thing, but when you desire customers to see even the specific fur or any other detail of a material you need to satisfy that desire. In Zakeke, it’s called “No mip map”.
Inside the 3D configurator, editing the materials, you find the mip map, an optimization in which the 3D engine, upon creation of a texture, creates a series of low-resolution versions (e.g., 512×512, 256×256, 128×128) to be used when the camera is far away from the 3D model, because the details are not visible and you don’t care that much about them.

But when you’re trying to create “feather,” or hairs or tiny little details, the mip maps literally make these details disappear. Now you can turn off this optimization. For good.
